Cammeray Community Battery

Community batteries are a shared asset that offers the local community a stronger network and better solar hosting capacity - meaning more solar can be accommodated on the local network. The battery could store locally generated energy and then make this renewable energy available when it is needed.

Ausgrid is excited to work closely with the Federal Government and local communities to deliver additional community batteries. As we ramp up renewable generation, we know we will need more energy storage throughout the system to provide secure and affordable energy for Australian businesses and households.

The Federal Government has committed funding to support up to 400 community batteries across the country. The Government has announced specific locations in the initial funding round.

Ausgrid has been awarded grants to deliver community batteries in the six eligible locations in our network, including Cammeray.

Thank you to the community for providing your feedback, we will progress with the location for the battery inside our existing Ausgrid distribution substation at 2 Metcalfe Street (cnr. West St), Cammeray.
